Journal of Tokyo, the Impermanent Capital

In the text, the author expressed that unlike Western, the overall plan, and the civic ordering of the city is missing in Japan's capital, Tokyo. I agreed with the author because, I was surprized when I went to America that traffic and city was organized. In every town, there are same fastfood store, such as subway, Mcdonalds, Arby's, Burgerking..etc. And there is always gas station in town. They all look alike. But in case of Tokyo, there is no such organization. You have no idea what kind of store they have in city or in the building untill you go there or look and remember the store map. I think there are hugh difference in location between Tokyo and Western.

3days project

This is a small food court located in the station nearby my house. There is a bakery behind me and people eat bread at here. They also have seats inside of the store, but there are more space that people can use here. First day, I sat one of these chairs and observe what kind of people are using this space and what they are doing. Second day, I took a note. Most people who use this place were doing some work. There were students who do their homework or study, and there were business men who are taking memos for their work. People use this place for kind of study place, not just for eating. Some people also are waiting here for meeting with friends, or some people were taking break from shopping, or their work. It's rarely crowded, and quiet since they are all studing or doing something on their own, not talking. There are no music, and just hear crowded sound like you always hear on platform during waiting for a train. On third day in the morning, I took this picture. It is about 9:30am. There are three people studying. This is kind of quiet place, and I figure that most of people kill their time by studing untill they take a train to head for somewhere.
